This scriptural text, from the Song of Songs, is incorporated as an antiphon on the feast of Mary's Assumption as the Lord invites Mary fully into his presence.
It is sung here with the Magnificat, the great song in which Mary celebrates God's marvellous power at work in her.

Melody: Margaret Daly
Organist: Fr Columba McCann OSB

Arise, my beloved, my beautiful one, and come;
for see, the winter is past,
the rains are over and gone,
the flowers appear on the earth, the vines give forth their fragrance.
Arise, my beloved, my beautiful one, and come.

My soul glorifies the Lord,
my spirit exults in God my Saviour,
he looks on his servant in her lowliness,
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.

The almighty works marvels for me,
holy his name,
his mercy is from age to age,
on those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength,
and scatters the proud-hearted,
he casts the mighty from their thrones
and raises the lowly,
he fills the starving with good things,
sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel his servant,
remembering hsi mercy,
the mercy promised to our forebears,
for Abraham and his line for ever.

Praise the father the son and the holy spirit
both now and forever,
the God who is, who was and is to come
at the end of the ages.

Arise my beloved, my beautiful one and come...(antiphon repeated)
