Carol Service in St Carthage’s Cathedral
On Sunday evening, 22nd December four sisters of our community attended the Church of Ireland Christmas carol service Nine Lessons & Carols at St Carthage’s cathedral in Lismore, Co. Waterford where Dean Paul Draper welcomed us to join with his congregation in celebrating the joyful feast of Christ’s birth into our world. Mother Marie of Glencairn was also invited to give a homily based on the Annunciation during the service.
Various members of the local community, including teachers, nurses, the president of the Vincent De Paul charity organisation, the young and the not so young were all in attendance to listen to the story of our salvation and join in the song. Wonderful singing by the choir accompanied by organist Ian Hunt lifted our spirits for the occasion. The evening concluded with some warming refreshments in this beautiful venue of St Carthage’s Cathedral amongst many friends and neighbours.
We thank the Dean and his parish for giving us an opportunity to be with them to begin this year’s Christmas festivities in such a joyful and meaningful way.
