Ora et Labora: Our Contribution to the World Meeting of Families 2018
As a monastic community ‘wholly ordered to contemplation’ (OCSO Constitutions) it is a welcome opportunity to be in a position to give something practical as well as spiritual in our outreach. In addition to our charism of witness, prayer and hospitality we work to support our community and share what we can with those in need. With the World Meeting of Families taking place in Ireland this August, the sisters of Glencairn are very happy to make a donation of 150,000 Eucharist Breads for the three masses taking place during the Congress at the RDS from 21st – 26th August.
In addition to our donation of our home-produced Eucharist breads to the summer festival retreat of Youth 2000 every year at Mount St. Joseph Abbey in Roscrea, we also supplied the Eucharistic Congress in 2012 in Dublin with a donation of our Eucharist breads. In recent months, we’ve been busy with extra baking, humidifying, cutting and sorting of breads for this large order and production has now finished and is ready for shipment to the Congress taking place in just a few weeks. Now all that remains for us is to pray that the event will be a fruitful one for the Irish Church at this time. We pray especially for Pope Francis as he prepares to visit Ireland, that he will be guided by the Holy Spirit to wisely and effectively lead the Church in its renewal and reform.
