If you are actively seeking to discern your vocation in life or are simply open to the possibility of a vocation, you will enjoy and benefit from one of our Monastic Vocation Weekends which take place every few months here at St. Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn.
A monastic weekend is an opportunity for participants to experience the daily monastic rhythm of prayer and praise, monastic work and Lectio Divina here at the monastery. It also provides time-out for personal reflection and the opportunity to enjoy a quiet walk through the fields and by the river at the Abbey. There will be an opportunity for one-to-one spiritual direction with a sister as well as introductory input on Cistercian life and spirituality. Participants stay in our monastery guesthouse for the weekend. Meeting with other participants can offer valuable support on the journey of discernment.
A weekend experience will not necessarily lead to a decision about the way forward but women who have participated in these weekends have found them helpful in their spiritual lives.
Our next Monastic Vocations Weekend will take place 26th-28th October, 2024. Alternatively, if you would like to visit the Abbey for individual guidance, please contact our Vocation Director, Sr Mairéad at vocations@glencairnabbey.org
