Harp Recital in the Abbey Church
Over one hundred guests gathered at the Abbey church at Glencairn on 12th July together with members of the community to listen to the exquisite harp music of Marguerite Blaney who has returned to Glencairn to support us in our fundraising activities in aid of our building project.
A 22 year old graduate of music, Marguerite has not only achieved a high level of musicianship on the harp but also performed pieces on the violin, the flute and even sang for us! Her sister, Marie Therese also performed on the occasion, singing a beautiful version of Our Lady of Knock especially for her Aunt Lily, our Sister Lily, here in the community. We were also treated to the fabulous voice of Liz O’Hara performing Se do Bheatha Mhuire by Liam Lawton. Liz was beautifully accompanied by Mairead Cullinane on the organ together with her daughter Margaret Cullinane on the violin (pictured above).
This dedicated group of musicians deservedly received much applause and high praise from us all on this unique and enjoyable evening in our Abbey church. Our warmest thanks to all who performed and to all who came to support this event on one of the hottest days of the year!
