Launch of our New Website
Welcome to our new website, designed by Granite Digital. We hope you will discover here more information and insights about Cistercian life in a clear and attractive layout that is easy to navigate.
Various sisters have contributed to the articles and reflections on our life published here; our archivist sister introduces Glencairn’s story from its origins as a seventeenth century stronghouse commissioned by the first earl of Cork, Richard Boyle to its evolution as a family home and its eventual early twentieth century transformation as a monastery for a foundation of Cistercian nuns. Read new vocation stories from our two junior professed sisters and find out about the formation path to becoming a Cistercian nun. Read about our monastic work and follow progress on our building and renovation project at the monastery. You can join us in prayer by listening to our community recordings of our Morning and Evening Prayer CD on our Audio section or check our Mass and community prayer times and join us in the Abbey church in Glencairn in person. We have also included a video gallery on this new website which we look forward to developing over the coming year.
Our sincere thanks to Rob and Meghan and all the design and development team at Granite, to John, and to all who have inspired this new website with their suggestions and contributions of various kinds. We are especially grateful to our friend Valerie O’Sullivan for her excellent photography depicting Cistercian life throughout this site.
