On November 16th, 2010 Fr John Farrell OP, Provincial of the English Dominican Friars arrived in Glencairn to give us a week-long course in Sacred Scripture. It was a most interesting and stimulating week, a re-awakening for some of us, as Fr John communicated his great love of God’s Word to us and shared his excellent knowledge of and insights into Scripture.

The theme chosen for the course was St. Matthew’s Gospel but we were also taken on a grand tour through the Old Testament right through to St Mark and St Luke’s Gospel, making connections and finding the differences and similarities between all. The lectures were profound yet simply presented.

And the proof of a great course: we were left wanting more and assured of more. We must do our part in nourishing the seed sown and God will provide the harvest.
